Probe of the Month: April 2006

Our client uses these one-piece stainless steel disk probes to measure inside diameters on twist-off caps. The probes are 12.7 mm diameter, have a 4 mm diameter shaft, and an M2 thread. In 2001, our client called us with a problem. How could they measure an internal diameter way down inside a beverage cap, near the bottom, without touching the twist-off threads? We suggested this design and made a few samples for evaluation. Our client was delighted. Today, these disk probes are used to help keep their manufacturing process under control. The client recently ordered 6 more. I snapped this picture as they were being readied for shipment.
