Vlog: Stylus Showdown! Picking the Perfect Sphere Material for Your Needs

Not all styli are created equal. This Q-Mark video dives into the world of sphere materials and helps you choose the right one for your job.

The Usual Suspect: Synthetic Ruby

Most styli come with a synthetic ruby sphere – the industry standard for a reason. It works great for most measuring tasks. But here's the catch: using a ruby sphere on aluminum and other materials can lead to build-up and inaccuracies.

Aluminum's Kryptonite: Silicon Nitride

For aluminum measurement, silicon nitride is your hero. It's wear-resistant and won't let aluminum stick to it.

Abrasive Cast Iron? Meet Zirconia

Conquering tough cast iron? A zirconia sphere is your best bet. Almost as hard as ruby, it tackles abrasive surfaces with ease.

The King of Spheres: Diamond

Need the ultimate sphere material? Look no further than a solid diamond sphere. It's the hardest material on Earth, so wear and tear are non-existent, even on the most abrasive alloys. Diamond won’t scratch highly polished surfaces. Plus, no material build-up! Diamond is a bit more pricey but they'll practically last forever (unless the stem gets damaged, which Q-Mark will replace!).

Bonus Tip: Save Money with Replacement Spheres

Q-Mark sets itself apart by offering replacement spheres for any stylus 0.6 mm and larger. This saves a lot on cost compared to buying a whole new stylus.

The next time you're picking a stylus, consider the material you'll be working with most. Q-Mark has the perfect sphere material to ensure accurate measurements and keep your costs down!
